Hair Care
Raw hair behaves like real hair, because that’s exactly what it is. However, since the hair is no longer attached to the scalp, it cannot access moisture as your own hair can. Therefore, it is very important that you provide the hair with the moisture it needs and keep it free of product build up with regular washes and conditioning/deep conditioning.
Pre-Install
We wash your hair prior to shipping so it is ready to install once you receive it. We suggest washing your hair prior to every installation. Rinse out shampoo with lukewarm water. Apply conditioner and rinse with cool water. Hang your hair after washing and allow to completely air dry.
Maintenance
We do not recommend the use of products containing sulfates, parabens or other harsh chemicals, or alcohol based products.
How to wash your hair: Thoroughly wet your hair with warm water, wash hair with shampoo, rinse thoroughly with lukewarm water, apply conditioner and use a wide tooth comb to distribute it (start at the ends and work your way to the roots), let conditioner sit 15 - 30 minutes, completely rinse out conditioner using cool water, hang and allow hair to air dry or style. Use of a leave-in conditioner is not needed or recommended, as this can weigh hair down. Weekly or bi-weekly washes recommended, depending on your use of product, in order to avoid build up. When shampooing, do not massage the hair or allow it to bunch up as this may cause tangling. Apply shampoo and run your hand down the length of the hair to create a lather. Use your fingers to gently detangle and disperse the shampoo throughout the strands.
How to style curly/wavy hair: Curly and wavy hair can be refreshed daily by using a spray bottle filled with water. We do not recommend heavy application of product or oils as this may lead to buildup and tangling of the hair. To define curls, a light curling cream/gel can be applied to curly hair after spraying with water. You may also use a mousse or foaming lotion to define your curls. A denman brush can be used to disperse product and help define curls. You may scrunch your curls, after applying a styling product and dispersing with a denman brush, to further enhance the curl pattern. Wavy hair does not require curl creams or gel and can be styled using just water, with the option to add a small amount of mousse for added definition. Spray your wavy hair and brush through starting at the ends. Then scrunch the hair to help the waves form. A small amount of mousse can be added to your hands during the scrunching. For best results, after applying and dispersing product, allow hair to fully dry before fluffing or separating curls/waves. Never detangle or heavily manipulate curly/wavy hair in a dry state. We recommend that curly hair be saturated prior to manipulation.
Heat application: Only apply heat to clean, dry hair and be sure to use a heat protectant. Excessive heat application can eventually alter the curl pattern of your hair. Try to avoid daily heat application in order to preserve natural patterns.
Bleaching/coloring: For best results, hair should be bleached prior to applying color. We recommend that you do not use a developer stronger than 30 Vol. Frequent or improper bleaching can eventually alter the quality and curl pattern of your hair. Seek professional services when applying bleach/color to ensure the best result and maintain the quality of your hair.
Tips for protecting your hair: Do not sleep with wet hair. Finger detangle hair starting at the ends. Follow up with a denman brush for curly hair. Wear a silk bonnet or scarf when sleeping. Section curly hair and twist to avoid tangles when sleeping. If your wig is glueless, remove it at night.
